It's got decent mechanics and is rather more-ish, but the lack of meaningful team play does limit the long term appeal. NOOB SCATTER RUSH remains the theme even on maps and modes where camping and clumping would be a guaranteed win.

Also, the matchmaker will put you in with ships up to two tiers higher, and the grind starts to kick in in earnest at tier VI where the differences also become more pronounced.

Great if you're a DD VI preying on lumbering BB IVs, but if you find yourself as the tier VI bitch in a match with mostly VIIIs there are limited options for contributing.

DDs can scout and run, (some) CAs can hang back offer AA to capital ships, but outmatched BBs quickly get monstered by higher tier BBs, burned to the waterline by dodgy CAs or go down in a swarm of torpedoes from invisible DD VIIIs with their goddamn cloaking devices.

If you're going to play it on a free account I'd suggest going down either DD or perhaps CV line (although I didn't try CVs). Whatever you do, get used to making oblique attacks, don't hold a parallel course or sadness will rain down on you.

currently sitting on tiers 2-8, can do 4 tier 9's but I'm going to just skip them as they are all pretty much shit compared to the tiers 8 and 10 lol
