tl;dr version - aaaaaah, that's better.

Mopeds down (so sad), "touring" down, "sports touring" flat, every other capacity and style up significantly.

Even BMW-man doesn't buy GSes in December though: the V-Strom 650 mopped up both the "adventure sport" and 125-650 categories. On modest sales though, December seems to be all about the 125s.

Honda came a clear 1st, and Yamaha only just managed to beat off a hard thrust from Lexmoto. The other marques are just selling gloves and neck tubes.

Heroic long way everywhere BMW adventure guy doesn't like the cold and wet! My illusion has been shattered Crying or Very sad

V-Strom 650 probably doing well just on price, £5400 gets you a brand spanker. That is a pretty good deal.

£5400? The sticker price is meant to be £7K which is pretty optimistic. I take it that customers and dealers don't share Suzuki GB's delusions.

BMW tends to add an electrically assisted discombobulator or similar to the GS early every year, so sales do go slack while punters await the new model.

I was a bit shocked myself to see them that cheap, and not even pre-reg.

Actually £5599. Razz Plus about £150 OTR presumably. Still, not bad. When the Nazi Tractor turns on me (as the treacherous Hun always does) I reckon a V-Strom 650 is as good as anything to replace it with.

Old technology means no surprises, right?

You know, I thought I was going a bit doolally and/or blind until I checked and found they had sneakily changed the price just after I mentioned it.

Suzuki dealers are monitoring BCF and increasing prices when we say stuff is too cheap Shifty

I want to like the strom but there's something about the looks of it. It's a bit scootery. I'll get my coat Twisted Evil

Nope, no surprises. CCT's go bad after 6k miles and you munch valves. Reg rec goes bad after 3k miles and melts the loom.
The green ignition block of death doesn't like salty roads and causes bike to die after 2 winters.
Tokico calipers grind to a halt after 1 wet ride.
Engine is good for 50-75k miles and then munches its big end.

As Donald Rumsfeld said, these are the known knowns.

That said, £5.5k and some TKC 80's and I'd much rather have a vstrom over a GS.

Don't worry boss, I was being a knob. These issues really only effected pre K3 models ie 12-13 years ago Smile

The engine is much the same, but they have improved on the bits attached to it.

In 2 years and 26000 miles I never had any problems with my SV (K1). Just consumables!

Not the most exciting or engaging motor but well proven Thumbs Up
