IIRC, there were weight and size limits for the robots.

I hope they keep it simple and don't include too much interference with other shit, it was pretty good last time with the house robots and the pits / flipper shit but any more would ruin it imo.

Forgot this ever existed Shocked. Used to watch it all the time when I was kid, will be interesting to see how they reinvent it.

With the amount of cheap drone tech available now days they should do an airborne version really Thinking.

Also reminded me of playing this for a while as a kid. I remember it being great fun but its probably out-dated rubbish now. Still available on torrents 15 years later Laughing.

Lol, I love the 'might be unsuitable...',.

Anyway being serious, it needs to be bike themed in some way. How about a machine that lashes out with a motorcycle chain with a big iron fist on the end?

I can help, I'm a right bender.

...so I could sort out the hydraulics.

Am I right in thinking the weaponry is strictly limited? If not I'm thinking a pair of triple articulating arms with a nine-inch grinding disc on one and a plasma torch on the other.

There still in use doing shows. I went to one in Portsmouth last year, and it had the original house robots - the big one whatever it was called! I even went up and touched it... Rolling Eyes

Ah, dear Philippa. An amazing talent for delivering the most innocent lines as though she were suggesting some form of payment-in-kind to a plumber with a pornstache and bulging toolbox.

Also something something robots something.

OK, that presenting team could work. I shall allow it.

In the meantime, there was a USA series called battlebots last year (search "battlebots 2015" on youtube) which was good, not really sure the best bot won in the end though... again, flippage rules a lot IIRC

My boy was a massive fan when he was younger, so much so that he badgered me to get tickets to the filming. It was all pretty good, as by the time we went, I had watched loads of them and became a fan too. You could wander the pit area out of filming time and chat to the makers and see the bots close up. You'd be surprised how big they are in the flesh/steel.

I had a great design idea for a robot, it was basically passive aggressive, causing anything coming close, to get flipped.

It never got off the drawing board as I just never had the workshop to put together a working prototype.

I really liked Robot Wars.

Series 1 had some good things which were dropped in favour of all out combat, but it was still good.
