Macbook Pro Help

Hi All

Just bought a second hand Macbook Pro - Mid 2010.

It has been wiped before I purchased it.

When it loads up, I have the option to re-install a new copy of OS X Yosemite which requires me to enter my applie id.

As soon as I do that it hits me with an error saying 'This item is temporarily unavailble. Try again later.'

Complete noob to macs, bought this second hand cheap to see if I could get into them before spending a lot on one.

Anyone any ideas what I need to do? Been googling for half an hour and no further forward

Google finds -

The reason you get this message is YOUR apple id is not associated to an apple o/s.

DO Not use someone elses apple id. Youll get all their apps.

In the 4 choices you get click "GET HELP ONLINE"

This opens Safari.

Click icloud and sign in with your apple id.

Now you can go back to installing screen and the downloading will finally work because you have now shown applie id youve logged in from your computer.


What a **** show and i can't believe how easy it was to fix

Thanks for your post.

Sadly, that does nothing - same error comes up unfortunately.

A friend has mentioned that he doesn't think Yosemite is available on the store anymore and that might be the cause of my error?

Yoesmite is still available.

When booting, hold CMD-R to get in to recovery and try installing from there.

Mid 2010 still has a DVD drive, so in the worst case scenario, you could always burn a DVD with the OS on and install from there.
