Yes there lambda sensor which provides a signal to the ECU. You can remove the lambda but you need a little widget to fool the ECU into thinking it's still there. On the Gen1 bikes you just took a wire off the ECU plug but I don't think it works on the gen2. Ask on ukbusas they'll know for sure.
