No, not good. Thumbs Down

I'd like to think he went out doing what he loved (which I'm sure is true) but when a young family loses it's father it's a crying shame.

I think he said something similar after his old man bought the farm.

It is a pity that his new kid will never know it's father, but (without wishing to sound harsh) that is the game he and his partner signed up for and he lived a life many people would be enviable of.

Can't help thinking a similar fate is in the post for his brother, he seems to have a few more screws loose.

Seems a bit harsh but William seemed like the nicer, saner, less grumpy brother. Michael is no doubt talented, but he also seems like a bit of a pratt a lot of the time. I wonder if some of the prattishness is because he actually does expect to die on a bike at some point...? It's a very interesting and yet disturbing exercise in psychology.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'll be quite honest, unless it's something freakishly unlucky (Henry Surtees getting fatally biffed on the bonce by someone else's loose wheel, springs to mind) I find it difficult to work up huge sympathy for people who get killed/maimed while regularly competing in highly dangerous sports.

Motorcycle road racing surely falls into the category of most dangerous sports on the planet and every rider must know that and learn to live with it, otherwise they would never throw their leg over the bike.

Michael Dunlop seems to have that ability to push to the absolute limit, even in circumstances where other similar talents might back off a tad, but quite often when I watch, I get the feeling he's not quite as in control as others are.

Every year I watch the TT and every year I'm waiting for the announcement that he's joined the choir invisible and he seems to ride like he's half expecting it.

Sad and shocking news. RIP William Dunlop.

July's edition of Bike interviewed William about Michael. William reckoned Michael's determination was his greatest strength, and weakness. "It'll probably catch him out one day." He could have been speaking about himself. Crying or Very sad

Car drivers would say the same about you on your road bike though.

I wonder how long road racing can get away with this mortality rate before the powers that be/do gooders try and shut it down.
