That would have been a cracking joke if Steve Grant had just been killed by a shark.

Would even have been a little bit funny if the guy had just popped his clogs for some other reason.

But given that he's apparently still alive and kicking and in good health... um, not so much.

Years of Poitín abuse/use.

Wiki says, "MacGowan has suffered physically from years of binge drinking. He often performs while intoxicated and has been impaired in interviews. In 2004, on the BBC TV political magazine programme This Week he gave incoherent and slurred answers to questions from Janet Street-Porter about the public smoking ban in Ireland."
Who was the more incoherent?

One of the best gigs I've ever been to, The Pogues. Manchester Apollo.

Watching Shane, trying to drink beer, smoke and sing at the same time, brilliant. He managed it too, although I can't say he did it with consummate ease!

Then as if that weren't pleasure enough, Kirsty Macoll came on unannounced, to sing Fairy Tale of New York with them

They signed off with Fiesta, Kirsty came on again, it was a riot.

Thing is, he was only 30 something back then and was pretty ravaged already. I'm amazed (and delighted) that he's lasted this long.

Marvelous.

I'm absolutely stunned at the photo of him in the wheelchair. I really didn't think he was so wrecked.

I think his mates bought him that as they'd be left with the pile of shite to carry home after a binge.

Looked at the wikipedia link myself and shocked to find out what happened to Kirsty Macoll.
Apparently got run over by a speedboat in Mexico trying to save her children, and the driver got fined something like £90 (and paid to take the blame).
Shocking Thumbs Down

Pete Shelley Crying or Very sad

Oh shit, I thought you and I were friends
Oh shit, I guess this is where our love ends
Oh shit, I thought things were goin' well
But it hasn't turned out so swell
Has it
Oh shit

Oh shit, pride comes before a fall
Oh shit, and once you lose one you've lost them all
Oh shit, I guess this time's the time
And it seem you're no longer mine
Don't it
Oh shit
Oh shit

Oh shit, I wish I'd known before now
Oh shit, that you were such a cow
Oh shit, I wouldn't have wasted my time
Oh shit, chasin' somethin' which wasn't mine
Face it
You're shit
You're shit

Oh shit, I wish I'd known before now
Oh shit, that you were such a fuckin' cow
Oh shit, I wouldn't have wasted my time
Oh shit, chasin' somethin' which could never be mine
Admit
You're shit
You're shit
You're shit
Admit
Admit
You're shit
You're shit
You're shit
You're shit
You're shit
