Hi guys, I'm wanting a ground anchor for my bike however I leave mine on gravel and the only ones I can find are one that get screwed on to a wall or ones that you put in concrete. So I'm just wondering does anybody know of any decent one that are designed for gravel?

Cheers in advance

Trouble is, it's difficult to get an expander bolt fitting into a piece of gravel Neutral

Large plant pot, cut slot in side about halfway up, half fill with post ballast, put U lock through slot, top up with post ballast.

Should of really said before I do already have 1 ground anchor already in and, when my dad put it in a few years ago he said it had like a 45cm spiral screw and he screw it in and that's done a good job. Only thing is we can't remember where we got that one from so we're now looking for another one.

If that makes any sense?

I've got the Y anchor and cemented it in under the patio so there's no points for thieves to snap off and remove

How do you stop someone unscrewing it? Sounds like it's for tethering stuff down from the wind, rather than a determined thief.

Those groundbolts could have the heads cut off in 30 seconds with a hackasw.

knock one of these in and run a chain through it.

Failing that, if it's your land you're going to have to dig a reasonable sized hole, fill it with concrete, bolt to that and cover with gravel.

You leave a minimum amount of slack in the chain so it can't rotate much.

I'd go with a concreted-in solution though. A piece anchor chain, a hole and some postcrete is going to be as cheap as anything else.

I guess. But it's easy enough to rotate the whole bike on its sidestand, particularly if you're not too fussed about damaging it. And who really cuts the chain down to the minimum length needed? Probably the same number that run the chain through the frame rather than a wheel.
