Was looking through the governments website about keeping vehicles secure and found a section where you can find out how at risk your bike is at being stolen. Mine is High Risk! Shocked

cause its a ped, 70-80% of bike thefts are peds.

mine is a 101-125 cc honda.

the fact its old, knackerd, a 4 stroke non ped, hence it gave me a risk of medium.

lets hope insurance companies use a more acurate system than this Razz

Mine is low risk.

Obviously the arseholes that stole it a few months ago don't read the government statistics Rolling Eyes

Mine last bike isn't like one there (Suzuki TL1000R '99) Laughing

The '97 one which is the closest they have is medium risk, which I expect is about right. Big bikes are only really at risk of being nicked by professionals, as opposed to small bikes which are nicked by kids as they can use them and then just dump them unlike big bikes where they know they'd just hurt themselves.

Newer bikes are more at risk of being robbed. newer bikes are worth more but have little better security than older bikes. Cars are the complete opposite theft wise to cars where newer cars are less likely to be stolen due to improved security.

My Kawasaki is "most at risk" apparantly, all though I already guessed it would be (being a 16year old two stroke with next to no security features). The old Sym I have isn't at risk at all apprantly, with "no vehicles" , although locally I know of two that have been nicked in the last year Thinking My Polo is apparantly medium risk.

Medium Risk for the closest match to my GN 125. I expected it to ask for details on my area and stuff.

Dunno who put that site together, but it's gotta be bollocks!
They don't have bikes newer than '97, and my bike is in the same category at GSXR600s and Bandits just by make and engine size. I can't imagine for a minute that it's accurate...

Coincidently it was 1997 in which Labour came into power, of course nobody was going to get their bike stolen. Rolling Eyes

My bikes are always at risk Sad I've had two nicked in a very short space of time. Its cos ped bois like trailies as well.

Fortunately, the flat I am living in at the moment has a garage attached to the side so we can ride the bikes straight in and double lock, double bolt, extra unmentionable precautions to keep them safe. And we leave the garage door open when we're home, so we can hear if someone tries to get in. Not that anyone's tried yet. I think they might know not to fuck with us, heh.

But that doesn't stop other scrotes with vendettas from trying to gaff my tires when its parked on the street outside the house from time to time Shocked Bastids.

Low risk for my Thundercat... is my bike really that unwanted? Crying or Very sad but that would be the same for an R6... Shocked

Plus it takes no account of area. I'll bet if you asked an insurance company what risk they applied to the same section of bikes, they'd take area into account before issuing a sweeping generalised statement. Thinking
