... Lovely little bike, Been sat in a shed for a year. Plan was to get it sorted, new fork seals, recover seat, clean up, do wiring, MOT then sell for a profit.

Unfortunately I fell into it holding a socket set, blacked out for about 3 hours and this is what had happened when I awoke.

do up for a profit? You won't at this rate, keep it up if your going to rebuild it nicely, best bet is get the frame shot blasted and powder coated

Quick question; how heavy is the engine lump? I need mine removing to weld an engine mount back on before it goes up for sale and I'd like to know if it's a 1-2 man + trolley jack job.

I carried my CG motor to a mates in a hiking backpack. On the GS550 as I don't have a car licence. It's not a heavy engine.

Both wheels had a bit of corrosion and were covered in road cack and old chain oil, autosol and a couple of hours elbow grease had them looking spanks again.

The top yoke is in good nick but filthy. Needs to be altered as there will be no need to have the bar clamps on there for the rebuild

I have some quite bad pitting on one of the forks, the other cleaned up quite well but I may get some new tubes ordered up or it's just going to keep blowing fork seals. Or I could get them hard chromed.

Next job is to obtain a seat now I can get measurements for the seat length, then clean up, grind and strip the frame. Elbow grease time!

Frame now sits at 18" length from tank tail to frame rail end. This gives room for a 21"-25" seat with a hoop made to match. The swingarm has been smoothed, with the excess chain cover mounts, pillion pegs and anything else shaved off. Around 3kgs of junk metal has come off the frame so far, with more to come.

Still have to do some work with a file and dremel to remove weld marks before prepping through.
