How to view CCTV on a recorder.

I've fitted IP CCTV cameras run all the cables back into the loft not yet tried them but I think they will work.

I am having great difficulty working out how the recorder which is an Atlantis pro dvr fitted with a 1 TB HDD connects to my laptop to view recorded footage.

When I plug the HDMI > HDMI in and go to my computer it shows nothing same with USB > USB.

Also how many days will a 1TB HDD record with 4 channels with 'viewable' quality footage.

HDMI won't work as your laptop is an output not an input
you should have software to detect the DVR then you should be able to view the footage

On some shite DVRs you have to back up the required footage to a USB stick or HDD, which can then be viewed on the laptop.

The HDMi will be to connect to a TV I think.
They probably have an app for phone or tablet, some other software such as Blue Iris might be needed to view it on a PC or laptop - or maybe they have a download for their own.

I've stuffed it in the loft before I smashed it to smithereens. I will come back to it at a later date should I have to view the recorded footage.

All cameras are working.

I don't have much experience with them but I did set up a 9 camera IP CCTV system for one of my brothers warehouses.

To view the footage on his, you need to hook a monitor directly in to the DVR box and plug a mouse in directly as well. From there, the UI loads up with all the settings, admin, etc, etc.

You can configure remote access but you do need to be plugged in first to set it all up as there's no way to get to it otherwise.
