Got an idea on my head to look for something newer and lower mileage than my R1 (1998 and 53,000 miles) ended up with this, 2006 and 14,800 miles Smile

Is it another 1000? I can't tell with GSXRs. How does it compare to the '98 R1?

The GSXR is better all round. The 1 to buy. The king. El capitan. The bourne identity. Iron Man. Etc etc.

Brilliant bikes Thumbs Up I have a black K6 1000 with 46k miles and still rides superbly. Took it to Santa Pod for my first ever drag experience and did a 10.7 with a slack chain and amateur launch so rest assured these are strong bikes and will last if looked after.

Review time?

I am probably going to go for a k6 1000 sometime this spring/summer so would love to read some real world review on it, considering it's now 10 years old. Most of the rave reviews are of the new bike.

I'm glad all you K5 to K8 owners love your cult of noughties GSXR. I don't get how or what makes them better bikes than 05 to 08 CBR1000RR's and ZX10R's though?

I can see how a K3 GSXR1000 could and would be a more capable bike than an 02/03 R1, it's a newer design for a start. I do have issue over if the average road rider could make a K3 go any quicker than an R1 on the road or track even?

And I still think the R1 is a better looking bike year for year on the GSXR1000 too.

Akra, rawr!

How do you keep the wheels so clean though, Billing? They look so shiny!

Speaking as an amateur detailer, you can't really keep wheels clean because brakes.
You just have to keep cleaning them. That said, you can make that process easier on yourself by using good
products to clean and protect the wheels. But the job never goes away.
Those white wheels look awesome though. Thumbs Up
Edit- Are they two tone?

I'm not sure it's better than either as a vehicle, but it's just nicer looking than either of them, and it's certainly no worse.

Who really hankers for an 06 CBR100RR?

Plus I think the K6 Gixer still holds the fastest 0-60 of all time for production bikes, bragging rights and all that...
