Has anyone else been dealt with suspicion at petrol stations? The other day the cashier even refused to serve me without money up front, apologising and saying it had come down from management not to serve bikers. I politely complied but told her to tell her boss I won't be going back to buy my petrol if this is how they treat customers.

I think that's their way of asking you politely to take the hose, place it gently on the floor and ride away.

Well that has been my interpretation before.

Only had the please remove lid before attempting to use pump.. I don't mind tbh, most shops have that sticker say no this and no that.. I do make a point to check notes in my change if they check mine, most don't like that. But hey what's the easiest way to shift dodgy notes... In change.. Offended? I hope so Twisted Evil

Can't comment on bike specific experiences yet, but the paying up front thing is standard at my local garage after 10pm. A bit irritating really, especially as they dont do refunds if you over estimate.

True of course, but I wasn't going to quibble over 38p. A friend was out by a couple of quid and was complaining about it, I don't know if it is actually the policy or just a lazy cashier though.

only had a problem once.... I had a ski mask and scarf on under my helmet, the petrol station let me fill the tank, then asked me to take it all off before he would let me pay Rolling Eyes

I was pissed off because it took me about 10 minutes to get it all perfect too

You really think they are going to care about that? Hourly paid - it'll probably make the shift go by faster.

I was recently asked over the loud speaker to get off the bike before putting petrol in. I stole a Creme Egg on the way out and felt much better.

pre pay is quite widely used in Europe.
First time I tried to fill up at a pre pay station I got rather confused and had to go back and forth to the cashier 3 or 4 times.
Thats about the only issue I have had with it though.

Shell on Balby Road bolted a chewing gum display to their already tiny counter so I had nowhere to put my helmet down so I put my helmet back on. Till jockey went ballistic. Supervisor appeared and was equally arsehole like. Left money, told I couln't do that. Told them I just did and to call the police if they had a problem.

Complained via shell website because bored. They apologised muchly, aid they would retrain staff and offered me a huge pile of points on a clubcard. Donated points to RSPCA becasue Kittens. Called in a few weeks later. Looks like they ripped the display off the counter and left massive holes and everone in there was suspiciously polite. It's a good job they can't spit in my fuel.

Complain, in writing, to the most senior person you can. I'm sure rogerborg will fish out stats shouwing that motorcyclists are least likey to steal fuel and any losses are likely to be significantly smaller due to the sizes of fuel tanks, yet motorcyclists use petrol stations more often and are more likely to be in need of overpriced coffee and snacks that petrol stations appear to use as their main source of profit as supermarkets gouge them on fuel prices.
