Hi, I've just bought another car to use to keep the miles off my 4x4, it's costing my a fortune to run, the new one is a 1999 1.8 Accord, I picked her up for £210 with twelve months ticket, the issue is the car insurance.

If I put my dad as the policy holder, but the vehicle is in my name on the log-book and I pay for it and put myself as the main driver, which will be true, it's about half the price compared with me as policy holder and main driver, my dad as a named.

Is this legal or not? Help me Mr 'Borg, you're my only hope. Laughing

Why dont you just put car in your Dads name and you as named driver & give Dad the money. Who is to know?

Unless of course you post about it on the internet.

This is one for arry, not me.

I'd be a little bit careful though. Are they not expecting the policy holder to be the owner and keeper? I've been asked to confirm that on most quotes for years.

I would guess it's legal, if it was his car, with him as policy holder and me as main driver. Why else would they offer the option? That would be the exact truth of the matter as well, so I couldn't be done for fronting.

Again: you weren't asked to confirm that the policy holder is the owner and registered keeper?

I was, but I haven't filled in the logbook yet so as it stands neither of us are the owners yet. Laughing I bought it from work so there's been no rush to fill the logbook in yet.

I don't see how it could be questioned, because everything would be true, it's his car, but I would drive it most, so how could the insurance company quibble if we've told them everything? Confused
