V5 doesn't mean 'legit'.

4 speed suggests it's the motocross version.

A friend had an older 450SX and found it a bit frustrating for enduro with the restricted gears.

There was recently a 2014 advertised at £3850 on ebay; I would presume it sold for less.
Similarly, a 2012 seems to have gone for £2500.
Neither road legal.

The bike doesn't sound like a great match for your needs, nor a great price.

I'm a big fan of the 310, engine was great, but seemed like my lack of control would get me into trouble quickly, it also seemed like a very small bike, I felt like a giant on it, I'm 6'4" though so it isn't difficult.

I thought 'most all the 125cc+ competition style dirt bikes were about the same size?

Any reason for that over an older 300 and a cut down seat?

(The 300 I had came with a cut down seat and shorter shock as the previous owner was a short-arse - came with originals too, which was nice as I'm not. Smile )

Because I just had to have this one.

Illogical, but just had to have it.

Well yeah, most competition bikes feel too small for me, WR250F's are all right but mostly they just seem like the bars are too close to the rear of the bike, and the foot pegs too close to the top of the seat.

I would like to have a go on a X-Trainer or Freeride 250R, because they seem right down my street, trials style engine in an enduro styled chassis.

I think I'd just need to buy one and then get used to it after a while. But I can't justify that sort of money on a bike that's going to spend all its time on its side or being thrown down hills. Laughing

I put bar risers on most of my dirt bikes. Bars can also be rotated backwards.
Also raised the seat on the KTM690, but that was more for added comfort.

Still not seeing the attraction of a new X-trainer over and older 300 competition bike.

It's slightly lighter and 20mm lower on the seat, but also 20mm less suspension travel.
It seems a much cheaper second hand 300EXC and a hundred quid to an enduro shop would get the same result.

I fitted bar risers to my KTM 450 and they made the riding position a lot better for my frame
