My Beta TR34 sheared the keyway on the flywheel, I have used valve paste to grind in the flywheel, now I want to set the timing.
I have been reading elsewhere that the spark should be about 1.8 mm before TDC.
I can borrow a gauge to measure TDC, but I dont understand how to adjust the plate behind the motoplat. There are three screws on the adjustment plate, but with the motoplat in place only two of them can be loosened. The second bit of confusion is the motoplat has got slots to mount it, giving a few degrees of flexibility there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, ta.

Can't really help but, if you post a photo or a link to a parts diagram, someone else might be able to!

this image shows one of the adjustment screws, one I can get at, there is a small hole in the top of the motoplat, is this the one that lines up with the small hole in the flywheel when the spark is made?
this is the adjustment plate, set at TDC
There is an arrow and a mark bottom leftish.
Any pointers?

hang on, I think I might have got it.
Beta TR34.
There are two adjustments as far as I can see, the motoplat has slots where it gets attached, and there is a plate behind the motoplat which has three screws which can also be adjusted. On this plate there is an arrow and a mark on the body.
There is a 2.5 mm hole on the flywheel and the motoplat.
There are pictures here https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_U7i5Hd7WKpeUZDYzFNU2FEcHM

My best shot is find TDC on a gauge, set the back plate to TDC, put he motoplat on and dont tighten the screws, put the flywheel on the shaft with the keyway in place and tighten a bit, use a 2.5 mm drill to line up the flywheel and motoplat and adjust so cylinder is 1.8 mm(?) before TDC. *If I cant get 1.8mm of play, go back to start and put first plate before TDC.

Is that it?
