Some days do you find you just ride a bit $hit? If so what causes it for you? I'm not sure why but I still ride like a noob sometimes (maybe due to tiredness), yet it doesn't really happen with driving. I guess you want to reach a point where you have enough experience/confidence to not feel like a learner Smile

Just me then?

Quite often for me as sometimes my bike will be in the garage for over a month Sad at times, especially over the Winter.
When I get back on it after a long lay-off, I`m all a wobble for the first day or two Embarassed

Oh aye, mood and tiredness affect my ride without a doubt. I think in fact the grumpy bitch senses it and gets mardy too then I think something is wrong.

New day, miles of smiles.

if you ever go out for a ride and get home and think"that was perfect,i didnt do anything wrong and nothing i did could be done any better" its time to hang up your keys.
because you have lost the ability to spot your own mistakes and its only a short step to posting videos of the lesser beings getting in your way.
then you start cycling and shouting woh woh woh alot.
i make tons of mistakes
sometimes its being a little off line
sometimes its being in the wrong lane, because im lost
sometimes i miss an exit at a roundabout and go round again.
but its nobodys fault but mine.

I ride daily to commute, often in heavy traffic so off days are going to happen either due to stress / pent up rage from working customer services or just being crap on the bike that day.

Rain does it a bit, but I work in the middle of one of the UK's largest industrial estates so lots of diesel likely to be about on one of the many roundabouts so caution is the order of the day.

sometimes take gaps I shouldn't when filtering, but I've stopped clonking my mirrors on the back of lorries so getting better

target fixation on kerbs and drain covers is another one.

Today. I was riding on autopilot, not paying attention to the road, and hit a big patch of ice on the run-off from the local Elbonian car wash / money laundering outfit, and totally lost grip.

Fortunately I was in the Backup Mummy Bus because eff using 2 wheels when water freezes as soon as it hits the road.

I don't go for a whole day riding shit but if I find I'm starting to make one or two errors, it's usually down to too much speed v lack of talent.

That's funny, I was thinking that exact thing this morning, I broke my car again so commuting by bike. I haven't rode it since Christmas day, at least the 400, and I was at home again immediately. But, when I was at work I just felt weird driving the cars around. everything felt off and wrong.

I get the complete opposite, and tend to get off-days in the car, obviously I make mistakes on the bike, but I never get the same feeling of everything just being wrong and wanting to just stop and try to get it right.

Only a few weeks ago I was waiting in the middle of the road to turn right into a side road. An on coming car slowed down and flashed me to let me go and I only went and stalled the bugger Embarassed

Sometimes I just don't feel as confident on the bike as normal. Don't know what causes it, maybe a night of odd sleep (although thats very common for me ffs) or just not feeling too happy about riding on wet and cold roads and end up grannying along.

Edit: I also find that roads where I've previously binned it or nearly binned it (as a result of rider fault where the bike tries to chuck me off) I am more cautious or have that doubt in the back of my head.

Probably more regularly than I would like - the commute is a lot shorter than it used to be, on little bikes that don't require much thought to dawdle on, and I haven't been going out for rides 'for the hell of it' lately. Hazard perception seems to still make the grade though (how fate tempting is that?).

The evenings are slowly getting lighter, so hopefully spring isn't far from amending that somewhat.

tends to be when i am tired or in a bad mood. the thing with riding is you need to be concentrating all the time where as in the car i can get to my destination on autopilot.

This statement bothers me. Don't we spend half our time complaining about dozy car drivers who aren't aware of what's going on around them?

Yes we do, but to what end? Modern cars are soporific by design and increasingly full of blinkenlight distractions. Railing against it won't alter it. Best to accept and deal with it.

Enfielded today, found myself having to pay more attention even than when Tractoring.

Solution: everyone should be dragged out of their cars and off their fancy modern bikes and be made to ride around on loud, crude, jouncy pushrod singles with ropey brakes.

Roads are pretty safe in India, right? Whistle

Rogerborg, there are times when I just think you're a feckin idiot Rolling Eyes

It bothers me when it comes from a motorcyclist who ought to have a better understanding of why they need to pay just as much attention while driving a car.

I have a normal thing, an off thing and a "omg this is it" thing.

Normal thing: Most days. I ride along happy

Off day: It just does not feel right, should it feel unsafe, whatever, just something missing.

The OMG This is it day. Every corner, every second it just feels right. Everything hooks up fantastically. Sadly these days are normally when I have to go to work or cant spend long on the bike.

Forgot my disklock last night. Dont seem to have done any damage. Didn't try braking hard last night though as it was a bit cold. Should have probably begged a floor to sleep on at that point or when i cleaned the frost of my mirrors. But i was cold, tired and wanted to find my bed.

i'm usually quite critical of my own riding, there is always something i could have done a bit better, but if my riding really falls apart it's time to stop for a coffee and likely a snack. I have come to appreciate the value of 24h macdonalds, the food is a bit tasteless and the coffee is so hot i have to wait forever before it's drinkable but it's dry and warm and the furnishings are designed to be impervious to food and shit so dripping rain and road dirt doesnt seem to be taken as the same level of offence as doing the same in a roadside gastropub.
