So the days are starting to lengthen and my mind has started to wander again towards the MT project I started last year.

Had a weekend reassembling the bike last September then work commitments took over.

I have a 50cc engine which I've put a 60 kit on. I've sourced an 18mm carb from Germany along with an MT8 exhaust. I've found an unrestricted CDI and hope to get it to do 50 mph reliably.

My question is... when we were teenagers in the 80's we all knew someone who put big bores on their DT's TS's AR's & MT's... I seem to remember that most of the kids I knew blew them up within weeks, either seizing them up OR knocking the bottom end out.

I've found an MT8 oil pump so hope that by putting it back together, jetting it properly and by using decent 2 stroke I can avoid it seizing. It won't be doing lots of miles. Maybe the odd blast to town or around our village but that will be it... Does anyone have any idea where I might find oil pump setting etc to use with the 60 kit?

Cheers

You'll struggle to find a reliable source of information. Plenty of unreliable ones on ped forums.

You've increased the capacity by 20%. A reasonable starting point would be increasing the oil flow by 20%. You have a bit of leeway, two-stroke oiling isn't that precise. The thing to avoid is massively over-oiling which becomes under-fuelling, running lean, and seizing.

Thanks for your reply.

I hoping that my MT8 oil pump will overcome the oiling problem assuming that its a different pump. It could just be the same pump but with different gearing in the crank case.

Hope not Sad

Next one will be a lot easier. I've enough spares to make a 2nd bike and this one will have the H100 engine which will make it a lot easier to get a lot more MPH out of the bike Smile
