On my Exup1000 the bushes are different to the arrangement on my 5JJ R1,in that there are two on the shaft opposite to the pulley on the Exup and one bush on the R1.In order to remove the single one on the R1 there are two very small screws that are removed so that a small punch can be used to knock out the bush in what would otherwise be a blind hole. But on the Exup1000 the two bushes are quite a loose fit.
I do get a slight 'squeek' every now and again and while on holiday in France the other year I did get the tacho indicate an Exup valve problem, but it only happened that one time and not since.
Did you remove the Exup valve itself when you had it apart?
Is it at all likely that one of the bushes has fallen off the end of the valve if it was removed from the housing?
From what others have said on the www.exup1000.co.uk forum, some high temperature greases do not last very long in that environment and others have said that where the genuine Yamaha manual says not to use any grease, then it is better to follow that advice.
From what I have seen, the cost of those bushes is quite expensive for what they are.Having got some stock of the required material then,as and when I need them, then I will make myself some. They are not complicated and so should not cost an arm and half a leg should a local machine shop be asked to make some for you
Just found this fiche and it does suggest that the bushes on the end are two piece and that there is a bolt in that side of the collector so as to access them if they are stuck

Thank you for your reply mate ,
I completely removed the valve again today to check against you're theory of the fallen bush but everything was in place, So I decided to measure then inner diameters of each bush and of course the valve, the bushes where slightly different as well as the arm on the exup valve so I think best to get them custom made? ____________________ 2002 zip 2002 bandit project 2004 fzs1000 2009 883r |
