Which sub-£250 Android smartphone?

I need to replace my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 after one too many drops Laughing I'm after something fairly cheap - £250 max. Needs to be Android - I can't get on with Windows or iOS!

It'll mainly be used for browsing, listening to music, YouTube and Waze (and obviously calls/texts/emails/social media etc). I do take the occasional photograph too, so good-ish front/rear cameras would be good.

The main thing I want from the phone is responsiveness - any sort of lag really pisses me off. I also need 4G. Something with fairly decent battery life would be good, and also something fairly durable (I tend to be a bit hard on phones). I'm not too bothered about NFC.

Considering the OnePlus 2, or maybe the OnePlus X/OnePlus One. I also considered the Vodafone Smart ultra 6, but the Vodafone app bloat and having to get it unlocked made me reconsider.

What else is out there? What do you guys recommend?

I'm a fairly basic smartphone user, my company issue MotoG (V2 I think) does the job well.

I thought I was a fairly basic smartphone user, I got a Moto G V2...

Slow as hell, needed to find a RAM cleaning app and an app to manually switch off all the unnecessary background processes.

Most apps insist on using internal storage (don't know if this is an OS issue or phone-specific) so I can't install or update anything now, and I don't even have any obsolete apps that I could delete to make room.

I guess I use my phone more than someone who just keeps it in their pocket for calls, music and camera, but I hardly use it for maximum 'app' capabilities, just ebay, facebook, maps - the usual that I've had on my phone since the dawn of smartphones pretty much. Definitely a slight disappointment if I'm honest.

Only Thumbs Up point is it was about £130. Possibly cheaper now.

After more research, I bought one of these: https://oneplus.net/uk/2.

£250.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo looked good, but was slightly more expensive and less powerful. Plus, I was using a Samsung before (Note II), so I thought it'd be good to try something different.

I've heard the OnePlus software can be a bit sketchy, but time will tell.

OS specific. There are Android imposed restrictions on app-SD access.

The specs on that phone wouldn't be too bad except it uses the newer OS's. If it was on Android KitKat or something it would be quite responsive.

I was just about to suggest an OP2 I have one, software is OK, but I really feel it needs tweaking. Only 'bug' I have at the minute is my phone won't display track info when bluetoothed to my car.

Mine is a 3rd gen but after the latest android update it allows you to choose to use your SD card like before as media storage only or to re-format it and use as extra internal storage for apps ect.
