My friend works as a nurse and yesterday she was telling me that a biker arrived with a broken leg and other injuries after being beat up at a traffic signal.

I have heard of similar story on the northwestbikers happening in Liverpool. I'm sure Cansa probably has heard something similar.

So whilst the biker was sat at a red light, somewhere in salford. Some guy ran over and pushed him off the bike, the bike fell on the guys leg and broke it in several places. Then he proceeded to steel his motorbike and rode off whilst he was lying on the floor in seething pain.

We are always trying to protect our bikes with huge chains and other security. Do you ever think about such a situation when sat waiting for the traffic light.

I know if some fucker tries to knock me over he's welcome to try and pick my baby elephant of yzf600r.

So are you aware of this particular type of danger when you stop at lights or a crossing or even just parking up.

"this particular type of danger?"

Meaning the dangers of living in Liverpool?

Never really thought about someone pinching a bike whilst you are at the lights, but Lozells is probably the kind of place that would happen.

Car jacking happens so why not bikes when you think about it?.

I was told to lie down on the back seat of the car because I was white and it wouldn't be a good idea if I was seen Shocked

Doesn't really play on my mind - but heard about something similar in Dorset a couple of months ago. Group of guys in a van pulled up and 'surrounded' a biker at night and started demanding he get off, threatening they were going to beat him up if he didn't get off and give them the bike etc etc.

From what I gathered it resulted in ''no, f*ck off'' and him riding away Laughing not the most successful bike-jacking attempt in history.

I remember seeing a video of a guy sat at some lights, a group of lads crossing the road and one of the lads trying to make a grab for his keys.

I always feel quite safe though, wearing head to toe protective clothing with carbon fibre kuckle dusters built into the gloves.

1, Bike gear aint no good for fighting in if that's what you meant?

2, Bike Jacking does happen but I bet it's a lot less often than car jacking, and the only successful way to do it is using other bikes and pillions IMO.

3, Id be more worried about bike jacking especially if I was riding a quickish sporty scooter in London than I would in Lozells. The scooter seems to be the Subaru Impreza of inner city thugs and gangs these days.

Many years ago, I was riding down this road with a few mates.
https://i.imgur.com/TXlwYzM.png

A bunch of street rats started lobbing bricks at us.
Luckily they were all shit at aiming, none hit any of us but a couple came close.

It was the "craze" back then.
Hit a biker with a brick.
Bike goes down.
Scrotes run over and steal bike while you are lying on the floor all fucked up and wondering what the fuck just happened

But that is the only time I can think of that comes close to what you mentioned.

I wonder what the guy in the OP did to warrant a battering.

Aint that the truth. Subaru thefts about 10 years ago were nasty. Doors kicked, people attacked on their driveways. The recent trend of key cloning at least removes the face to face contact with the thieves

Happened to a guy in my bike club in Edibnburgh last November.

Bunch of neds hanging about at a crossroads, he stopped for the junction, one of them ran out and tried to push him off then grabbed hold of the bike when they failed. He gunned it and powered away. 650 Bandit.

Reported it to the police, got a response along the lines of "What do you want us to do about it?".

I guess its not occurred to me that might happen, never thought of it like that Shocked

In a car, yeah. I often lock all my doors, cos invariably I have my handbag on the seat and/or open windows, "vulnerable" woman and all that.

But not on the bike. Cos (apart from the bike) I don't have valuables on display.

But yeah ... anybody with the attitude/fortitude to knock my capacious figure off the bike, would certainly not take too much effort to do so, I suppose, cos I am fairly weak in general, not a strong type at all.

I have to date deliberately ridden through the same red light twice, at the end of this railway bridge troll nest.

https://i.imgur.com/UE8peOV.jpg?1

Once when some jakey zombie was shuffling across the road towards me, croaking "Bikey! Ho! Bikey!" Didn't wait around to find out what his idea of drunken fun was.

Second time was a swarm of diversities hanging around the corner, who jabbered something to each other than advanced on me as I pulled up. As far as I know there's no actual problem with jacking or bike thefts in Glasgow so it was a paranoid over-reaction, but in my defence, I'm pretty racist.

I myself have never worried about such stuff but it did make me think about the amount of times I personally stop at red lights late night with yobs in trackies walking past.

I know as much though, lifting my bike is a hernia right there.

I never sit in neutral when stopped at red lights at night, and would do exactly as Rog did above should I be even slightly concerned about some scrote heading in my direction.

Car jacking happens so why not bikes when you think about it?.

Because bikes are a little bit harder to pick up once they're lying on the ground.
