Hi All,

Getting a Ground anchor when my Driveway is done, Question is do I pay for the genuine original one or do a Paddy it with a knock off.

Leaning towards the knock off, any reason why not?

Neither will pull out of the ground so I'd go for the budget option.

The expensive one looks like it would be easier to feed a chain through, more of a U shape than the V shape of the cheapie.

True, but in practice aren't you only going to feed it through once?

I'd be more concerned about the size of the chain that can go through. The knock off only claims to have a 44mm internal diameter rather than the Y-anchor's 50mm.

If I were going to ground anchor in the open it would be with a 19mm chain, which needs the Y-Anchor Max.

I have a knock off version in my back garden.
Chain size is an issue, for that reason alone I'd say get the bigger one.

Filled after the hard core with concrete until flush but didn't have a picture of that stage. It's not coming out without
a Kango though that's for sure Laughing

You might want to check if there are any insurance benefits to the real one.

There won't be.

Reminder: my cheapest price went up by 1/3rd when I added an Almax IV chain and Squire lock to the quote. Assume nothing with insurance.

Bigger one...

As for Insurance I don't really care, I probably won't even use it TBH. But as it will only cost me the one off small amount to get one and not extra to fit I might as well do it incase I want to use it in the future, I may get a better bike that raises the nick value of it.
