See what's changed as the government ignores the recommendations made by 3 parliamentary committees scrutinising the bill last month...

Gonna have to wait for a journalist to dig through that and write up the important bits because right now it's a massive case of TL;DR the likes of which even a law and/or politics student doing dissertation research would baulk at.

Perhaps some pretty moving pictures will help...

He's not happy, but he appears to be a lone voice in that house...

There is a quite exceptional section in the bill, though, that provides an exemption from restrictions and requirements of the bill...

There's also a nice one where it's ok for them to hack an innocent's* phone, in order to locate a guilty* person and you're not allowed to consider that as collateral damage, just intended.

*We're all guilty all of the time.

This is the line of thinking that keeps me wanting to stay in the EU. The EU acts as a big brother that occasionally twats the UK Government when they're being out of line. If we leave then there's no one left to twat the UK.

I can't decide if it's relentless trying to fight it using encryption, Tutanota for email and switching to TLS or if I should stop caring as they'll snoop on me regardless.

That's kind of the purpose of the bill. They have to publish it, but they don't have to make it a sensible length or write in a way that you will understand. It's extremely easy to hide things in that bill.

When has that happened in a way that benefits you?

Lets hope the HOL gives them a spanking again, unless they decide to try and get round them.

Never to my knowledge, but perhaps maybe one day when the UK says as an extention to the IP Bill "You will have mind reading chips installed by force in case you think something negative of our ruling master" the EU might say 'nein'... If the EU hasn't already mandated it.

I don't trust our government at all, but I'm unsure if I trust our unelected leaders more than our government or equally as little.

Depends. If they sell it as a way to prevent people thinking Nazi type thoughts then the ruler of all Europe, Merkel, will support it.

But seriously, the EU wants it's own intelligence agency (and army and police force).
