Headphones recommendations

Looking to get a pair of headphones, budgets around £50-75. Anyone have any recommendations?

I've only ever used earphones before so I haven't really got a clue what to go for at the moment. I've been told Sennheiser's are good and was considering these as a possibility?

See if you can stretch your budget to some Fanny Wangs, which as well as having the best ever name, sound awesome.

Anyone particular models of those which you've got experience of? I'm finding the main problem with all of the brands is theres just too much choice .

Keep seeing some then thinking "maybe those for £10 more... or £20 more... or £30 more... will have much better sound". Unsure if theres a lot of difference in sound quality between a £50 set and a £100 for example .

May have to go try some in a shop at this rate .

Get yourself some AKG K-451s

They're unbelievable, they don't give you listening fatigue, they're light and transportable, and at about €85 a pop you can't afford not to.

Presumably you are after over ear rather than on ear? Never been a fan of sennheiser and a bit of an AKG fanboi to be honest. If you're on a budget AKG K121, K141 and K240 are all decent, if you want to spend a bit more the K550's are lovely, I have the 141's and used them daily for a decade, also have the K550 which are very good. I also like the Grado SR125's, not sure if you can get them cheap these days.

Thanks all. Local PC world has the AKG-451's for £40 and I have some discount there as well so that sounds like a winner for less than my budget .

I am also in the market for some decent headphones. Budget of £80 - £200+ if necessary!

I've read about the AKG K550's and seen them for £130 on ebay.

I'm wondering if I'll want them wireless for bluetooth etc now though....

I went ahead and got the wired AKG-K451's in the end. Very good value IMO; for £40.

There might well be much better around, but having only used earphones in the past for years and years they're significantly better and I don't really feel I need to pay more for anything else at the moment. Use them constantly at home since buying them.

Got me a pair of Sony MDR-XB950AP's. They're cheaper now than when I got them. For around £60 they're brilliant compared to more expensive headphones.

It's worth considering the Creative Aurvana Live headphones, which are basically a rebadged Denon ADH1001 in black (both made by Foster, with identical drivers etc., so arguably they are are rebadged Foster rather than rebadged Denon...).

I've got a couple of pairs (my son "borrowed" my first set), really can't fault them for the price as long as you don't mind the un-trendy branding. I was looking specifically for closed back, as I used to spend a lot of time on planes and wanted something I could comfortably use there without being antisocial. I've used a lot of Sennheiser, Beyer, AKG etc. headphones in my time, at all price points. These are comparable with the best (though admittedly my ears aren't quite what they used to be).
