I have a 2006 Honda CBR 600rr with HISS igniton. The power has started cutting when i turn to right full lock. If i jam the ignition cable from the cable further up where it routes underneath the tank the problem stops (atm i have it duct taped there and no issue). So this to me suggests a loose connection. I took the tank cover off and looked at the connectors from the barrel to the main harness and it appears there is some corrosion. Now ive cleaned the male sides but cant really get into the female sides as they are tiny, but tbh they dont really look too corroded (from what i can see). I cant also use the normal approach to check the voltage either side of the connection as when its broken there's no power (am i correct? electrics aren't my strong point). How can i verify that it is indeed the connection to the main loom? I fear it might be a loose connection with the barrel itself as the problem seems to occur at any steering position if i move the cable about (whilst keeping the connector end still) or fretting of the ignition cables within the convoluted tube that is used as a sheath. I dont want to cut the connector so i can get it off unless i am pretty sure.

If the barrel is faulty to will i have to replace the entire HISS system? I know that you can recode keys but can you get just the barrel from Honda?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You seem to have diagnosed the problem. There's a connector block under the tank/airbox that connects the ignition switch to the loom. Your bad connection is there. See if you can tighten the female side of the connectors without mullahing them.

I cam across a similar problem on a CBR125 once. The wiring was the problem. The ignition barrel had about 6 inches of wire coming off it with the connector at the end, and these wires were getting caught between the headstock and frame - crushing them and shorting out on full lock.

Look at the wiring in the general area, see if any of it can get trapped.
