picked up my bike a few days ago and after 200km its great!

a few niggles, gearshift selector has fallen off, it is a press fitting and came loose (3 of us had to search the road for it at 11.30 at nite with a fone as a torch Laughing )

and it has the tendancy not to be able to select 3rd gear at times.

but im still running it in at the moment so we shall see if it gets better with miles.

from 6500 rpm onwards it really shifts (still running in - honest Surprised )

its still restricted but will cruise in 6th at 9500rpm (12000 red line) at 45-50 mph.

so all in all im in love with it.

brakes are superb, riding position is far superior to an rs50 and the mirrors are great - so im well pleased with the tuono.

heres a few pics.....ignore the dirt, just adds to the sluttyness....

If things are falling off take it back to the dealer and get it fixed.

Oh - and if you don't run it in properly you will seize it and land yourself with a big bill.

Other than that - enjoy!

ah thanks. Thought "tuono" was a typo of some sort. Or a sneeze.

on the arm theres the little bobble that comes out to allow your foot to catch the arm, this is a press fit, its booked in at the dealer for friday.

its an aprilia rs50 tuono.

trying to restrain myself with the runnin in, Confused

its miles better than a regular ped, its safer to ride too in my opinion, you have to gear to suit corners/junctions etc, and so think about the road ahead and dangers/obstructions far earlier than if you were on a twist and go ploughing into corners.

Nice so that's who keeps Aprillia in business. Thumbs Up

Bits falling off take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it. And if you don't run it in correctly it will seize and cost you lots of money, so feel free to not run it in I really don't care as it's your bank account not mine. Thumbs Up

Nice bike, but be careful of the exhaust, being exposed it will rust away in no time. Very Happy

Bloody smart bike Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Personally Ive always liked those Tuonos more than the RS's for some reason. Enjoy it and make sure you do run it in properly, it's worth it when the bike runs smoothly and responds well.
And Lee's right about the exhaust, on the 125 Tuono Bike magazine tested a month or two back it had only done a few hundred miles and already the exhaust was going sligthly rusty.

The gear fitting is a common problem, ive heard about 7 cases of that happening so far! Its not the like old style where it presses on then a bolt goes through and locks it in place is it?

nope. just presses in Confused .

i work in a well known tuning garage and experence with cars etc, so running in isnt a prob, hasnt been above 10 000 yet.

but wen you run something in, usually a range of use is better then just low end use, as long as the engine isnt stressed.

You shouldn't be going over 6K revs to run in, 10K is practically ragging the nuts out of it. I sense it's not going to last long.

Castrol TTS is my personal preference but the Scoo-ter stuff works good enough.

Castrol TTS fully synthetic is the best. Keep the exhaust clean as if you don't it will rust quick and also grease the chain regularly as the chain and sprockets don't last long on them if you don't. My mate had a Aprilia MX50 and he went through 3 chain and sprocket kit in 6 months but he never greased the chain and it was bone dry most of the time.

But nice looking bike, hope your enjoying it.

tts from now on then, grease the chain or wax?

cleaned it the otherday and the rear wheel was covered in black grease from chain fling.

am i right in guessing wax will stop this? but which is better?

I bought some really good chain wax that sticks to the chain very well. Think it was putoline chain wax but not sure.

i dont do bikes, though the principles are the same, the quirky differneces make them alien - like the running in for examample - its 2 stroke, it has a chain, blah blah blah

plus i have no real experence with bike products such as lubericants etc and so asked advice from people such as yourself.
