assuming then there is fluid in those lines, bleed it from the top if you can..

IE, crack the banjo bolt at the MC. pump and hold, undo MC banjo bolt and listen for bubbles coming out, tighten banjo bolt and let go of leaver.. repeat a few times... once thats done and air out of the MC, then bleed the calipers should be easier..

edit: are those blue spots on a split line? i found it a right pig to bleed the thundercat setup which looks to be the same.. make sure you're bleeding the correct caliper first.

i think i took it in turns on the front calipers switching every half doesnt or so bleeds.

it definitely sounds like air is still in top of the system

Easy bleeders are shit.

This is my method which has worked without fail.

Get a jam jar (or similar)and half fill it with brake fluid. Get the right size tube to go over the bleed nipple, then drill a hole in the jam jar lid and poke the tube it in so the end is submerged, I also use a cable tie to keep the tube in place.

Take the fluid cover off.
Attach the tube to the bleed nipple and open it.
Pump the brake lever (Slowly so it doesn't splash).
Keep an eye on the tube/jar you should see fluid pumping through and hopefully bubbles too.
Top up the fluid level making sure it never gets near the bottom.
Once bubbles stop coming out tighten the nipple remove the tube and you are done.

Also how do your brake lines go? I normally start on the right because it is the shortest line to the MC.

ALSO 2 if you are still stuck fill the calipers with brake fluid before attaching the lines.

iirc you bleed the further calliper away from the reservoir.. at least as far as cars are concerned. which i think would be the left caliper when facing the forks.

+1 for above method. worked for me until i got a vacuum bleeder which makes quick work of it

TL:DR version.

Spark plug snapped in half. Spark plug replaced.

(Fair play for staying in till the end!)

Good stuff Smile air will always go up

Get a cable tie or a something to tie the brake lever down to where it stops pulling in any further. Leave on side stand over night and it will likely firm up

I always reverse bleed now, pushing fluid in from the nipple using a 100ml syringe. The air wants to go up, you might as well help it.

If you have the foresight this works a treat. It's quite entertaining going around shops asking if they sell syringes..especially dressed a bit weirdly Laughing Laughing

I got a 100ml syringe free with my last 5 litres of dimethyl carbinol.

That was a fun weekend.

I used to tie back my brake lever on my old thundercat overnight (not all the way back, just enough for any air to escape into reservoir) I always had issues bleeding blue spots for some reason.

More to the point, where are the pictures of the shit filled hat being punched.

I know it took longer than planned for 'tard to finish the job, but the awesomeness of the video of the bike starting without muching it's valves more than makes up for this.

If you have friends in healthcare. Easy to get syringes. Cool

+1 tie the lever back over night. Brakes are better in the morning. Still can't fully understand the physics behind it though.

That's the exact opposite of what pulling the lever does. Any movement at all will block off the return hole to the reservoir, otherwise pulling it further would just push fluid the wrong way.

I'm not saying that it doesn't work, I'm saying that it makes no Goddamn sense that it does. Wink

Or you can go and ask in a high street pharmacy if they've got any large plastic syringes and they'll offer you leaflets for a needle exchange place. Laughing

So, once the brakes are firmed up it's onto the next job....... what voltage do HIDS run at?

Not that anything else could possible go wrong, right?

All joking aside, this thread has been a brilliant roller-coaster. It's almost like the perfect anti-troll.

Vets that deal with large animals are probably the best place for big syringes. Thumbs Up
