Hi - I'm totally baffled: -

Healthy spark with starter motor or kick-start.
New plug, coil & ECU.
Carb stripped & cleaned.
Good compression...
All electrics seem to buzz out OK and meter readings all sane...

Does not even attempt to fire, let alone run; even with "port priming" (i.e. neat petrol via syringe down the plug hole)...

It's as if the ignition timing has slipped (dramatically!) but this should not be possible on this motor - the pick-up remains securely located.

Any suggestions please! Thanks

Did you do the valve clearances before the compression test? Check the timing of the valves is correct.

Now, did it run alright before? Did you buy it like this? Did this issue just develop recently? Give us more info about the symptoms.

That is puzzling, there's really not much to go wrong there. As Rhyno says, is there anything else you can tell us about it? Any modifications, any other symptoms at all? With the plug out, is it turning over freely?

Hi Folks; - thank you for your responses: -... sure, I had checked compression... rudimentary method of blocking plughole with wetted finger sealing plughole and using kick-start - dammed good fart!...
However; - removing rocker cover revealed the inlet pushrod has lost it's head and is no longer communicating with the rocker.

New pushrod is no problem; - finding the hardened steel tip of the old one is potentially problematic but no way can it be left to reek havoc with the cams or whatever other parts it may encounter...
