What is the suggested best free/low cost CAD software for designing parts to be printed? I've used Catia in the past but it's been 10 years since I've had to design stuff. I've tried Solidworks but It's taking too long for me to pick up.

The basic solidworks functions are easy peasy. Stick with it and you'll pick it up. There are hundreds of excellent tutorials out there from beginner level all the way up to power user features. Have a look and see if you have the standard Solidworks tutorials installed with your copy of it.

Failing that, try OnShape. It's a free cloud-based CAD system, which is very easy to use.

I say stick with SolidWorks ... I got it and had learned enough in three days to design my new yokes for the bike ... was even better when I got the real thing in the post a few weeks later Smile

Find a student, they can get all Autodesk products for free.

OpenSCAD is great if you can code, not so much if you can't. Autodesk do free software licenses if you're a student, Rhino3D is the package I use, and it's fairly cheap IIRC (I get a license through work).

Fusion360 is also free for hobbyists.
