Hi dears,

So I bought a dry battery, LPYB9-B, filled it up nice with acid according to the guidelines and charged it with my 12v bike charger.

When the charger told me the battery is charged I screw the caps completely shut and take a look at the acid level .. it is way to high! I've taken 1 cap off to see if there would be any air going out but after 1 hour I still don't see the level dropping. Is this normal? Will the level drop, or do I have to level it out with a syringe?

Thanks for the advice,

I you have put in the correct amount from the acid dispenser supplied I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably just gas in the electrolyte. As long as your breather is connected correctly it wont be a problem if any liquid does overflow.

As polarbear said if the acid level was correct after you filled it originally then its probably just gas bubbles between the plates....a bit of vibration should remove them. if its to high then I'd expect the breather to be venting some pretty corrosive liquids for a while, so keep the end of the vent pipe away from anything you don't want corroding!!! most batterys I've had with the pre measured acid bottles have been bang on, however the last one i bought for my 929 had 30ml left in the bottle when the battery was full!
