ive just passed my test so im getting a new bike, i can get it data checked off the AA but i want to get it checked mechanically, ive asked the AA but they only do cars. does anyone know of a company who can do this?

i will be very greatfull if someone could help so i can get it sorted asap..

I wanted the same when I bought my bike but strangely no companies seem to do it. In the end I ended up getting a bike mechanic from work to look at it along with a friend of mine.

Could you not pay a mechanic to look at it for you as a guvvy out of hours? Failing that look at it yourself with a mate, following the excellent buyers guide on this forum.

most garages will do a PDI/pre-MOT kind of check for around 20 quid, ive done it for my past two bikes, after i purchased them unfortunately Rolling Eyes

You could always see if there's someone knowledge able in the area on here that would have a look over for a few beer tokens Smile.

That's a point actually goose, an MOT only costs £15, so if you can find somewhere that does thorough MOTs that should be a good start. (Won't tell you about all problems, but then not all problems can be told initially anyway.)

get someone who knows bikes or a local garage recommended by someone to take a look and don't forget to hpi it
