... Sort of. So I came across this photo the other day in a stack of pictures my parents gave me, from a little clearout.

Circa 1994, I was around 5 years old. I used to jump on this arcade game all the time when on holiday, I believe it was in Eilat. It was most likely what kick-started (excuse the pun) my love for motorbikes, albeit not being a real one Laughing

I remember 'Biker Mice from Mars' and 'Masked Rider' TV shows also having a big influence in biking interest.

Anyone got any of their first 'on-the-bike-shot'?

Feck me. In 1994 I hadn't been on a bike since before you were born.

Even then, hanging off like a boss Thumbs Up

As I kid, I loved Street Hawk and Battlestar Galactica (they had jet bikes!)

My parents have a picture from around 1985 ( I was 5 too) on top of my dads mates Triumph 5TA
Can't easily get to the actual photo though.
https://www.triumphadonf.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Triumph_5ta_1.jpg

I do remember thinking, it was the coolest thing ever. Like my BMX, but WAAAAY better. Then he started it and I shat my pants. But loved it!......the bike, not shatting my undies.

Out of interest, anyone know what that bike is? The headlights almost look triump(hy) to me. I know he owned a couple of Ducati's around then also! Will have to try and find some more!

I'm still donning the same haircut to this day. Laughing

955i Daytona surely? The only thing wrong with that bike is that Blair sat on one, but that's not enough to make it a bad bike even!

I know Binge would be horrified, but that little home made C70 engined monkey bike I had, I'd love to have back now, and put proper forks and bars and wheels on, maybe a front brake too. And then make it road legal. Smile

I was very strange... I remember saying in my childhood that I hated motorcycles. I was always going to be a fan of cars.

And then in 2007 my parents moved us to the middle of fucking nowhere.

So it was suggested to me to get a moped. So I begrudgingly obliged, thinking it was only for a year or so and then I could get a car.

But after a while I thought "This ain't too bad..."

And then I bought my second moped, which was unrestricted and all that. Did 50mph according to the clocks!!! PHWOOAARR!

And then on a whim, I thought... "I'll buy a 125. Yeeeeah... one with gears too!"

So I ended up with my CBR125 and from that point forward it was a snow-balling effect of bike related lunacy that now means I cant talk to someone unless they can talk about bikes.

Because of all this, I think the first picture of me on a bike is probably me on my Bandit 400 in ~2011/12

Funny that, I had zero interest in bikes until last year when a friend mentioned he wanted to do his CBT. The bug bit so hard I got malaria Laughing

lol at the oldies moaning about my just-gone-quarter-century-self Razz

27 next month, married and own a house.. I'm not that young Laughing

No-one in my family really rode bikes so I was kind of on my own with it. My aunt had an RXS100 stored in a shed for 14 years which she gave me years ago (got it working then sold it), but I never remember her riding it. Certainly never had any photos on it as a child - she was the 'weird aunt' that everyone has in their family.

I like that; looks like a mini Spondon!

For someone who has been hooked on bikes from my early teens, surprising that I have no photos of me with bikes back then. Just pics of the bikes themselves, and those are few Sad

Threatening to show an 80's hooligan iconic smoker in a period photo, and then pulling it at the last second, I think that's behaviour worthy of the ban hammer IMO! Laughing

Iconic it might be,but for all the wrong reasons. Laughing

Was never as fast/wild as the original test bikes, supped fuel like a teen sups Red Bull and vodka, had a rear tyre one size bigger than my ZX-7R's front one, handling was 'interesting to scary' depending on the road, spent most of the time cleaning plugs to get all 4 cylinders firing, blew up twice, upper exhausts fell apart insides and melted the underseat plastics.

And so on......

Laughing

Only had one problem with mine. Gearbox got very notchy until the linkage rod snapped at the thread join. It got a bit tired and 'ringy', but that's when I sold it, so never experienced anything worse. I still remember it as being good fun; handling was ok - leastways, I don't remember it being horrific in the context of what else was available at the time - certainly it handled better than a 350 YPVS! Since I'll never own, nor probably ride another, I'm happy to have experienced it.

I went to view one for sale in 2000. It had 14K on the clock as was up for £2k. I should have bought 5 of them! Laughing

It didn't start on all four pots, and would run on 3until really warm, which put me off a bit, but not as much as the cracked and badly damaged bellypan on an otherwise nice clean bike.

I should have angled for a couple of £££ off and bit the blokes arm off! I have a similar story of a life full of missed opportunity with an NS400R too!

I remember speaking to stan the man about a re-build estimate for an RG, and he said he'd stripped a std bike with 38K on the clocks that had perfect bores, and only needed rings seeing as it was apart.

I asked my mum to get an action shot of me after a month of owning the MT5, it didn't come out very well.

From about September 2010. Christ... Five and a half years ago. I remember that so clearly as well.

https://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag134/Fladdem/67488_1308465451998_371968_n_zpsn9nvf12f.jpg

The cub at the front was the first bike, I got that in about April 2009, I think, I went halves with my dad, £25 each. Thumbs Up

Needless to say, I used to go out on it whenever he wasn't around, sometimes me and him would take it over the fields and tank around on it, but never too long or too often or else we'd start attracting attention, the speedo cable broke first time we used it, so he never knew when I'd took it out and he always leaves the key in it.
