Alrite all,

I'm going to overall my brakes on the bandit at Easter, I'm looking at lines and wondered if there's any recommendations on makers and suppliers.

Anywhere online I can order from?

Cheers all Thumbs Up

I don't own a Bandit or have knowledge of its brakes, but www.wemoto.com are a reliable parts supplier and are a pleasure to deal with.
Everything listed isn't always everything they have so worth contacting them if there is a specific part you're after.
They do however sell mostly (but not exclusively) pattern parts though.

Venhill have been really helpful when i had a slighly odd bike. Hel make similar and didn't want to know. Goodridge are heavily promoting atm. I'll be doing my bandit soon and going with venhill as they've been so good to me previously.

That's odd......I had exactly the opposite experience with HEL. They were more than happy to make me some custom lines when I changed swingarm. I found them very helpful.

Thanks All Thumbs Up

Wemoto have a 3 to 4 day lead time which isn't that terrible,

I'm looking at Sportbikeshop have everything I need (filters, pads lines etc.)

I'd kind of settled for HEL - but will look at venhill too - I'm going to stay OEM setup too.

I'm going to split the rear calliper for a good clean and replace the piston seals and any O rings - I need to find a breakdown diagram.

Mate at work as tipped me to hold the callipers up above the MC for bleeding - I never thought of this - The last twenty years worth of oil and grease on my hands (Washed off with blood sweat and tears..) has come from rebuilding air-cooled VW's so all bike tips are welcome.

Thanks All
Thumbs Up

On the Bandit rear caliper there is an O ring between the halves of the caliper. They are not a wearing item though and I would worry far more about the actual piston seals.

But the biggy with those calipers is the pins that locate the pads. These go in to a blind hole on one side of the caliper and are notorious for seizing in place.

All the best

Thanks for the heads up

I'll try to get the o ring just in case, I'll polish up the pistons and replace the piston seals anyway

I'm hoping the pistons are free - the rear brakes are still fine to be fair but the fronts are not so fine - gotto love winter riding Thumbs Up

I'll have the calliper off anyway so the pins will be easier to get to and to put a bit of heat on the alloy if they are seized.. just off to order up the bits now along with a new fat tube of copper slip Smile - thanks all Thumbs Up

Hi

Fronts are a doddle. Yes the seize (both the pistons and the pins the calipers slide on), but being sliding calipers it is very easy to pump the pistons out. Getting the caliper off the sliding pins can be a pain, but normally doable.

With the rears the ping the pads mount on is a nightmare. Heat, abuse, lube, etc, very occasionally work Crying or Very sad . Best way seem to be to slather the pin in decent penetrating oil and then clamp it with some mole grips (decent pair can grip tightly enough - no chance with pliers). Then try and twist with the mole grips. Problem is doing this with the pads in place.

One the pads are out you can pump the pistons out as long as you haven't taken the caliper off completely (ie, still hydraulically connected). Note that where the banjo bolt connects gives you a way to push one piston out (ie, push through the banjo bolt hole), so try and get the other piston to pump out first (ie, get them both most of the way out, but with the one on the banjo bolt side not quite as far out when the other pops out)

All the best

Katy

You've got enough brake line recommendations, however I thought I'd chirp in just 'cause I've had good dealings with the bloke.. https://www.wezmoto.co.uk/

I have put HEL lines on both my bikes.

Can't fault them.

Well made product. Good options for colours etc. Easy to fit. Price is perhaps higher than other available products but I think being a reputable product reflects that.

Disclaimer: I don't work for HEL or have any association with HEL or the sale of products related to HEL. Just an advocate of their products.

Venhill all the way, quality is just superb.

I have used HEL lines, they are pretty good, but Venhill are better.

I'll add another +1 for Venhill. Full race setup and a rear hose on my Firestorm. I got them in white 'cos I'm a tart. Made a huge difference to the underpowered calipers the Storm has Thumbs Up
