Hello all,

Looking for a intercom system for about 6 riders does anyone have any recommendations? there's a lot of cheap looking ones on eBay but haven't been able to see any reviews.

Thanks for any tips/experiences shared

My group uses Interphone fM4's We have 4 but I think it may connect to more .
I bought a pair from Birmingham bike show for £170.00 , maybe cheaper on eBay but I wanted to buy from a main dealer .
I love mine , fm radio , very good quality sound .
They do have a fm5 out but I've read mixed reviews .

Can you clarify something for me please

A lot of these systems say 2 way comms up to 6 riders. Does that mean only 2 can speak to each other? I thought if one speaks it would broadcast to everyone? But to say 2 way insinuates otherwise unless I am misinterpreting

I've just checked the info to be clear myself , the f4mc allows you to toggle between riders , the new f5mc allows a conference type conversation .
my mates went out with them and I missed it but I've used it loads between 2 bikes .
Looks like the f5's the way to go for you .

I'll give one of them a shout and see how they got on .

me and 2 m8s have the interphone f5's, we can all talk together but they can be a pig to connect sometimes. other than that occasional hiccup they perform very well at up to around 70mph, distance between each rider is very good, I think its about a quarter mile range per unit, maybe more cant remember tbh so that equates to around 1.5miles for 6 users. battery life, connected to each other is around 6hours.

Sena 20s seem to be the best out there. I've got a set and they blow the Scala alternatives out of the water.

How so?
I've got the scala packtalk, which can do 15 riders vs the senas 8, and the scala is IP67 rated, whereas sena only say 'water resistant' (I asked their customer service)

Other than that they look pretty similar in specs. Although I will say the handlebar remote from sena does look pretty good.

I also use a sena intercom thing theres about 8 of us, ive never really used it as i dont know how too but all my matea rate them, can chat in 1 big group chat or just 2 way , also got fm radio etc so its pretty cool , and if ur all linked up and roughly a mile from each over u can still link through other systems so you can talk to people about 7 miles away "aperebtly" like i say u dont even know how to use it but is good for long trips to the tt for example

i find yelling at the lights saves me listening to them chatting shit and saves me a lot of money to spend on fuel and sweets.

Laughing

I was gonna say I couldn't have one of those headset things, unless it was purely to listen.

There are days where 'me + motorbike' = 'singing in the shower'

Regarding comm systems - the main thing I'd look for is how far apart you can get before the signal is too weak. Though there'll also be a negative correlation between that and battery life.

I guess a very good quality earpiece and sound quality would be important too. Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 crackly voices would get very annoying very quickly.

Do these things use up your phone plan? Or do they work on a radio frequency that allows all riders in the 'conference' to listen and speak?
