Tarting up brake hose banjos?

Despite religiously applying ACF50 every winter my banjos are looking a little grey and oxidised. They were originally black. I don't know wether the black was paint, powder coat or anodized or an oxide coating. How can I get them looking nice and shiny. Are the any products that help reblack metal in the way plastic can be?

Depends who made them and what from.

If they are mild steel, it could be phosphate coating or paint/powder coat.

If they are stainless, it woud more likely be a paint/powder coating of some sort.

If they are alloy (hope not) it would be anodising.

I'll have to have a closer look. I think there's actually a bit of flaking off going on so it may be paint/powder coat. Certainly not stainless. If mild steel I have some gun blue which gives a great colour to steel.

I always do mine with a small tin of humbrol model enamel and a tiny paintbrush. Two coats and it self levels
