Time has come to sell my trusty commuter/touring steed!
1995 Yamaha XJ900 Diversion, with about 82'000 miles. I've owned it for just about 3 years and it has been my main mode of transport, commuting, shops, european tour, you name it, its done it! Has taken me to the alps and back twice and i've never had any mechanical problems with it
Seems like a high mileage, but on the Diversion forums, there are far more that have battleship mileage compared to this!
Starts and runs sweet as a nut, i've been using it daily but have noticed when left for a week without use, the battery would discharge enough for the starter not to turn over. I've tried 3 different alternators (which also houses the reg/rec unit) and saw no change, so ruled out the alternator.. (one included as a spare). So i thought it could be an earthing problem.. Went over the bikes wiring and found a connector that was touching the frame, so have isolated it... and not had a problem since.
Exhaust is blowing at the connection between the silencer, and will need a new copper gasket at the header as its getting that raspy ticking exhaust leaky sound. Stills runs like a trooper and will get upto (and beyond) the NSL with ease
Starter motor honks sometimes after start up.. needs greasing!
Cosmetically, its a 20 year old bike and looks it. Its no show bike, panels are scratched, the front fairing has a crack either side, which is common with these, a small dent in the tank and general battle scars. Its functional, and pretty when squinting from a distance!
In terms of stuff on the bike..
Has Blue spots brakes and reservoir from an R1, a common upgrade for the brakes (originals can be dug out if required..)
Has engine crash bars (that bear scars..)
Rear hugger
Braided hoses front and back.
Hagon progressive springs in the front forks
A dirty looking Hagon rear shock
PR3's tyres front and back with plenty of life.
Givi Wingrack luggage system
Has had a brand new oil cooler on it, no bents fins or leaking
Recent oil change, K&N oil filter and new air filter..
AIS (Air injection system) Has been removed, as it made taking off the fairing a right pain. All parts to refit can be supplied.
Various spare parts can be provided if you can carry them, along with the Haynes manual.
MOT til 18th May
Insurance runs out at the end of the week.. so past that i can't promise any test rides. Can be ridden away
I'll pop some more current pictures up when the suns out! Some pictures from the europe trips..
(Top box not included...)
