Paper element fuel filters are about 4 pounds. Aluminium ones with a cleanable sintered bronze element are about twice that. From an economic standpoint the reusable ones work out cheaper. Are they as good a filter? It all seems too good to be true.

Hi

I wouldn't expect a metal mesh filter filter to anything like as good a job

All the best

Paper filters work. Cheap mesh filters do not.

Expensive mesh filter might work - but I've never bought one, because paper filters are cheap and they work. You shouldn't need to replace them very often.

4 quid extra every couple of years? That's a heady 4 pence a week.

Sintered Bronze is more like a solid material with porous qualities rather than a 'mesh'. They can have a very fine filtration of a few microns which is perfect to filter fuel to an engine.
They will eventually block up and are difficult to clean once the pores are blocked.

They are used in compressed air systems and other compressed gas systems to remove water and other liquids from suspension as coalescers
