Waterproof Gloves

So, I'm almost fairly waterproof, but my current Dainese "Goretex" gloves have let me down, time after time. They're useless.

all goretex products are approved by goretex before sale to the public, you must of had a bad pair, I've got dainese contact and alpinestars jet road and they're both waterproof

do you tuck the cuffs inside your jacket sleeve's when it's raining?

Rukka are generally good. I have a pair of Richa Goretex gloves that are OK and have probably done 40k miles, but the material around the wrist is leather-look plastic of some description rather than leather and has fallen apart.

How are yours failing you? The biggest issue I found isn't a failure in the glove itself, but that there is a hole in the gloves where you shove your hands in. If your layering isn't correct water can find a way in through there and you end up with damp hands. The best way I've found is to put the gloves over the top of the arms of a water-resistant bike jacket, then an outdoors style goretex over the top, with the cuffs of the goretex tight over the top of the gloves. In truly horrible weather and several hours of fast riding, water still works its way up my arm between the goretex jacket and the gloves, then back down into my hand. Takes a while though (probably only twice this winter).

Bought a reasonably cheap pair of j&s own make waterproof gloves two years ago for winter commuting use, now a bit not quite tatty, but well used, still waterproof, (as long as you tuck the cuffs up your sleeves in brutal downpours)

I have the Rukka ones you list (Argosaurus). I got them for £180 at the London bike show. They are definitely waterproof, but at that price they better be.

The next level down in the range -- the Apollo -- was just as waterproof and lasted me about two and a half years and about 40k miles before wearing a small hole in the palm. I still have them as a backup. I think the Apollo is probably a better value.

The Argosaurus is a really nice glove, but the jury is still out on whether they are worth the price.

I'm convinced the only way to garauntee waterproofness is to have double cuffs. One in, one out. They are a pain to put on though.

Heine Gericke used to do a cracking set called Master 4 gloves but they are long since gone. I got 10 years of dry hands out of my old set.

I sprung for a set of BMW atlantis gloves this time.

They are waterproof.

Bought some Richa Cold Protect's recently after being recommended them by a few people.

Not particularly cheap (compared to my previous ones anyway) at around £100, but they do seem reliably waterproof.

''Cold protect'' is possibly one of the most ridiculous names they could of chosen though - for a winter glove they're not very warm. With thermal liners i've still found my hands getting quite cold on a few occasions, even around 6 degree temperatures.

I actually quite liked my old Spada Enforcers which only cost about £50, although I wouldn't want to recommend them as most reviews seem to slate them horribly and they did leak catastrophically after a year or so.

The Rukka Apollo gloves are excellent. Pricy but brilliant.

IXS have a goretex xtrafit ce cat 1 glove. I think the model is called narius. Waterproofing is good, feel on the bike is good but is definitely a 3 season glove not a winter glove. They are my default glove, often i wear a thinnner vented glove, very occaisonally a winter glove, but these are always pair I'm wearing or the second pair in my luggge. Girlfriend managed to pick a smaller size of the same for added confusion. I think they fit slender hands and long fingers better than most given we both have piano hands.

I have got the Dainese Carbon ones and sold them. Not because not waterproof, but they were not very comfty to me.

I have now Alpinestars Tech Road Goretex and they are fully waterproof and good fit to me:
