Well Quali was full of crashes and mayhem.

It seems MM has his bike setup just how he likes it and we might have a race where no one can use soft tyres.

I don't think Rossi has qualified so well in quite a while either.

All looking good for an interesting race tomorrow.

https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/229030/1/michelin-withdraws-both-rear-tyres.html

Michelin have withdrawn both tyres from use tomorrow. They will make some other harder tyre available though.
Seems like a major fuck up somewhere.

There's more to this than we are told? Where have michelin found a race worth of stiffer construction tyres from overnight? Are they an older specification they've got in storage or a new spec? Are they already out there or is it time for a logistical miracle? Or are they going to use off-the-shelf tyres in the race?

Wankers can't even find a trailer that a bike fits into.

Armature.

I can't imagine they can produce so many sets of tyres overnight and ship them to Argentina. Even getting some ready made ones from Europe would be near impossible so they must have them somewhere nearer ready to go. Very odd indeed.

It wouldn't take long to make another re-mould like they had on Scott Redding's bike. Very Happy

Great race, MM doing what he does best. Such a shame about Vinales though.

Just caught up with the racing, there is no way on earth I would have predicted the last ~5 laps at the midway point!

They used to do it a few years ago. As did the F1 tyre guys. The spec tyres were brought in to stop the big teams having custom made tyres for each track, made and shipped in for each race after practice.

Surely that is different as it would be planned ahead. This was a sudden demand. Either way it seems they couldn't pull it off and they just made them do a mid race pitstop.

It wasn't about not pulling it off, the tougher tyres were good to go by all accounts, it was the fact that the wet morning test meant they'd have had no time to work out a suitable setting for the new tyres. Two sets of 10 laps was seen as the safer option compared to 25 on a tyre nobody had practiced on.
