Well this is my first post on this forum so hello everybody. My name is Ross, currently riding a 2000 RS125 (completely standard) as my lovely ZXR400 was stolen in Swansea. i'm studying engineering at university and part of my course is to build bikes so it's not all bad.

Anyway, onto my problem. ive just rebuilt my RS125 which was running before it was stripped. a friend broke a bolt in the carb so bought a new shell and fitted all the parts across with new seals after the carbs were ultrasonically cleaned. i managed to start the bike briefly with no exhaust on (bad idea i know!!). I've now put the exhaust on (Standard) and it won't start. ive checked and i have fuel, spark and compression but when i try to start the bike it doesn't want to go. I've taken the spark pug out and it is soaked with fuel. so i cleaned it up, put it back in and tried again. this time i noticed that fuel (not mist, Full spray) was spraying out of the carb intake from the orifice that leads to the choke (hole on the left of the intake). I've tried changing the float height. checked and originally it was set to 24mm as it should be according to the dellorto handbook s it doesn't say in the manual. ive now changed the float height to 27mm to see if that stops the problem but it hasn't. If i lift the choke then the fuel stops spraying out. is this a problem with the choke circuit?

Many Thanks

Ross

ok so it's fixed now and runs. And as per forum etiquette the solution was that although i had set the float level to the 24mm that is stated by delorto it was still spitting fuel. So i changed it to 26mm and still the same problem, but as a last attempt i changed it to 28mm and it all works! from my research i had found that the main reason behind fuel spitting out of the intake was float related (float height not high enough) so if you have this problem, increase your float height until it goes away. hope this helps people with the same problem
