I'd love an RC30, even if just to look at but I refuse to pay the prices they command, even if I had the money. It's just not worth it when I could buy a 916 for £5k and look at that instead.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

When you look at the alternatIves available now new ie yam m1 , aprilia rsv4, kawasaki etc the old bikes are slow heavy and overated. If you just want to polish
the bike in the living room , go old.....it will be a good investment if you don't use it.

Being an oil boiler fetishist my favourite is the GSXR750RR, although i did nearly cream my pants picking over an RC and an OW at Cadwell a few years back. The GSXR shares nothing with the standard 750K except switchgear and some nuts and bolts. Sadly i'm too poor to own one so i'll stick with my 400SP instead Sad

Add to that I like the uncommon option and like the big Green K, so I'd say a well sorted ZXR750 SP, or a ZX7R RR would be my choice for alot less cash.

Bimota did some nice 750cc race replica bikes too.

Are RC30's much more expensive than RC45's BTW?
I've never seen an RC45 on the road, so they must be rarer?

Hi

Liking for the 5 valve Yamahas so would be an OW01 for me. For years these were substantially cheaper than the RC30.

They might not be as quick or as light as a modern bike, but they are a lot more special. And far better looking (what is it with modern bikes looking like a boulder with a wheel at each end and a spike to sit on).

All the best

Katy

Yeah I heard this too, but I also remember an article by allens performance in a magazine saying that the flat slide carbs are often not set up very well from the factory, and that they can be tuned and dialled in to ride pretty well for road use if you put in the time to get them set up well.

I'd give it a go, as though any GSXR 750 sp is the rarest bird of the homologation 750's, there can't be many 7RR's about either?

I'd go for a YZF750SP in pink white and blue or an NR750

In some ways I kick myself for not buying a YZF750SP new when they were being flogged off cheap. Could have had one for less than the cost of a standard YZF750 (from memory they were up for £5995).

All the best
