just as a got to work this morning my bike died.

Was a wire from the regulator which has snapped off. Its a fat black wire and has 2 green wires inside it. Looks like it had a circular crimp on the end but this has gone.

Not sure where this wires back up to, not got my manual as at work.

anyone know?

i'm guessing the regulator has a positive and negative to the battery?

The green is the earth according to a 950 wiring diagram

Has that actually come out of the rectifier i.e. detached itself from the sealed unit?

I'm not sure how repairable that would be.
