My bike insurance is due in a few days so I went on GoCompare for a few quotes, I'm 57 years old, insuring a 600 Bandit, the lowest quote was £79.40 (not too bad), but scroll to the bottom of the page and there was a quote for £8.960.80, about eight thousand more than the bikes worth.
I get the impression that the company doesn't want to insure bikes Very Happy

I had something similar recently. Lowest quote was around £530, then the bottom of the page was one for £10,004. Laughing

All insurers on the panel have a maximum decline rate contractually. They get round it by sticking out a quote that'll never be taken up

Probably a specialist insurer for classic bikes, young riders, off road bikes or similar.
They don't really want to bother going against their standard clients, but if someone's willing to pay way over the odds why not.

I think this explains why all but C M E (thou shall not speak the unspeakable's companies real name, that and google bots as we've learnt with their auto software) quote me ridiculous prices. They must love it each time I try and get a quote.

GoCompare.

If you're on the panel and you don't 'play' then they'll remove you.

I remember when I first insured my Ninja, cheapest was around £900 and then there were two other quotes for £9,600-odd each. There were no other quotes available other than those 3. Laughing

It dropped to 600 this year with some shopping around. In September I can expect to pay £200 according to comparison sites. Funny what a couple years no claims does. There's still some offering to insure me for around £5000 though (how very competitive Rolling Eyes )

Well, after many hours trying to get someone to insure my new bike, so I can do my direct access on it and the only company that would do so wanted over £1,500 via one of the comparison sites, I rang up Bikesure and got it insured for £356. This was the same company that wanted £1,500+ via the comparison site.

Why is it virtually no-one wants to insure you to do tests and/or lessons on your own big bike? Had a nightmare today getting this sorted, as my bike has been delivered to the dealers but, they can't tax it until it's insured. ie: I couldn't have it.
