Thought I should stick a "Hello, I'm new here" post somewhere and this section seemed appropriate. Apologies if not.

Been riding since you could do so on a 250 and L-plates, but I've had an XJ9 festering in the garage while I've been too ill over the last few years. Me and a friend are currently attempting to raise it from the grave, it's not far off.

But the whole 'no bike' thing has been like someone stole a vital limb. I know the rules about how to buy and broke every one of them today when I paid a deposit over the phone on the back of some pictures.

So - hello Smile

This ought to end well - for us. The drama must flow. Drooling

I mean... hello and welcome. These pictures, are they shareable?

Cheers Very Happy

Yep, I know, the potential is strong for humble pie eating. But then I bought a GPz900 on eBay when drunk once and that turned out brilliantly.

The pics are on the desktop. Once we've been to the dealer on Saturday I'll be lobbing up some pictures of me crying next to a pile of rust.

Hello and welcome.

It's nice to have some new blood on the forum.

Hope the bike turns out to be a good 'un. Thumbs Up

As long as the chain's not slack and the subframe is straight. Whistle

Pictures don't do the thing justice, very impressed with the machine. Corrosion on the exhaust is very superficial - but that's going to be swapped out for a stainless aftermarket system anyway. Absolutely delighted with this.

That Yamaha sticker under the seat reminds of the 80's MS DOS Banner Mania. Razz

Now that's an interesting choice. What rubber is it running at the moment?

Black rubber. Pretty sure. Very Happy

I'm stunned with how little I know, it just wasn't important. I figured the 12 month ticket means I can get home and then anything can be replaced if needs be.

I was more bothered about the state of everything - and it's in an incredible state considering it's an '02. The wheels are like new, as is the chain and sprockets. The frame is sorted, the forks don't mist and it had a great feel. All in all, despite breaking every bike buying rule in the book, I've landed on my feet with this one.

And as the very first bike I've bought with cash I've no monthly bills to face - which feels awesome.

I just need to sleep till my birthday now.

Tourances.

But with the dealer replacing the suspension bush I'm not going to be able to play on it for another week Sad

For my money Tourances were perfect on my GSs I had a flutter with a grippy Conti Trail Attack but the grins only lasted about 3000 miles where Tourances could easy peasy got 7000 miles +.

And real world riding is fine on Tourances.

I only use Metzelers on both my current bikes. Cool

I found Tyreleader were the cheapest source for tyres. Mail order from GER/FRA.
