Not exactly a new rider since I've been on CBTs for four years but finally got around to doing my A license and passed today with only a couple of minor errors Thumbs Up

Good stuff.
Make sure you buy some sensible riding gear, especially important for new riders, as I'm sure you've been told.

Suzuki Gladius, the engine needs running in and the tyres scrubbing so I've been sedately pootling about on it so far.

I did my direct access on a cb650f - lovely bike and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Good choice, seems like a solid bike Smile

I also did my test in the CB650F although I'd already made my mind up on the CBR before I knew that's what I'd be using it was a great chance to see what the CBR would be like to ride before I got it. Whereabouts are you?

It was great fun doing it second time around being told how to use roundabouts. It's like "s*** I've been going round them the wrong way the past two years" haha. Buuuut, the guy I was on it with was new so I SUPPOSE they had to tell him how to use them Smile

Yeah I had a total new biker with me on my DAS, he was making soo many mistakes that I was just riding around watching him while shaking my head.

He failed for stopping at a green light on a roundabout as he thought that someone coming along to his right was going to jump a red and hit him. They didn't.
He then complained that he was just being safe, but deaf ears and all that. On the way back to the training centre, he did the same thing with me behind him, he pulled away when the light went green and stopped right away as a car was coming around the roundabout at normal speed and stopped at the red. I almost went into the back of him and pointed out that if I was a truck driver, I might not have noticed and he would be feeling rather squashed about now.

I'm pretty sure he gave up his quest to become a biker after that.

Some people just can't get the concept not just of bikes, but of using the road in general; it's like they look at other vehicles and assume that at any moment they will just suddenly run them over and/or explode in a random nuclear fireball rather than behaving in a generally predictable manner. Luckily the guy I was doing my DAS with, while not experienced, was a competent rider and also passed first time too Thumbs Up

Thumbs up to CJ Ball in Norwich for anyone wanting to do their training/test, they're good people Thumbs Up

The KTM guy is a complete nut job.

There's more footage in the thread, unless goto10 has removed it for legal reasons. Which I think he might have done. Still worth a read though.
