I'd be inclined to go for the Honda , but having sat on both they are both very race orientated. Maybey the Honda being more so, with regards seating postition.
Personally I'd go for a test ride on both. The R6 does feel nice though.
With the Honda you just slide down into the tank, becuase the rear is so high . Its cool. Must handle like its on rails.... Pro-link suspension and all .
How long have you been riding?
Go for test ride then make a decision. Access comfort, handling, power delivery, feel, and any other differences you pick up between the two.
(Honda is better though) , but then again all Honda riders would say that, lol |

I'd for the R6 myself, however they're not exactly the most practical of road bikes as you say it is very track orrientated and some people find that it's too much pressure on your wrist leaning that much all the time. Best bet would be to get a test ride on each, and then get which one you prefer. |

You could in fact buy a 954 Blade for more or less the same money.
Obviously a yellow and blue one is the best/fastest. |

Yeah or get a 96-98 / 98-2000 Blade. You can get them for about 3-4k for a really nice one. you save loads of money, and you have an excellent bike.
New bikes or 1 year old bikes are hassle, because you can get an older bikes with very similar peformance, and with limitations far beyond your skil level for alot less. With less insurnace. You could have a really nice older bike, and about 2/3 grand left over for whatever. A whole load of money.
Thats just what i think. You dont have to listen to me... |

Having never ridden either, and not being a fan of sportsbikes, I'd go for the CBR.

I'm a student yes, I've just finished a year in industry tho.
As for CBR900's, ZXR9's etc for 3-4K - NO NO NO... decision made and is final. In my original post I said you werent allowed to try and persuade me to do this....
I guess popular concensus is the CBR - i've come to the same decision too, time to test her out I just love the underseat exhaust design and it looks dead sexy, it would be the 2004R1 if I could afford it but I dont think I can handle the power ... yet.
Thanks for the votes and ideas |

Test the other 600cc sports bikes out as well so you are able to make a decision having tried every option. |

well my dad had one and he know what hes on about as he races a cbr400. sed it handles more like a tourer than a sportsbike. its not that bad but not in the same league as his old zx6r. |

I really don't agree with this misconception with the CBR600RR. Poor handling, not as race orientated? WHAT!
This is the first CBR in 15 years that Honda has built to win races, they make no bones about it. That's why they kept the F version as the softer road going version.
Whereas it's generally accepted that the current version of the R6 is the softest of the 600 supersort bunch and is a better road bike for it. The handling can suffer and feel like it drops into corners quickly and isn't quite as stable as some of the other 600's because they fitted a narrower profile front tyre. Changing the front sorts the problem.
The criticism always thrown at the CBR range is that they feel bland. Apparently they haven't got the rawness to them that some of the other sports bikes have, but it's generally accepted that they flatter the rider and do the job without a fuss. Suits me.
I know everyones take on race bred is going to be subjective, but lets listen to those who have actually ridden both bikes eh? |

Personally I'd have the CBR600RR...
They are meant to be VERY good handling bikes with amazing brakes and not dull/boring to ride like other CBR's etc, as well as good build quality and great looks = yes please ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

They are both very track orientated.
If you want a 'comfortable' bike I doubt either will suit you.
So, as looks are the factor you are obviously choosing on, choose on what you like... 'cos everyone else will probably think it's ugly anyway . |
