Hi all, I want to get a camera and mount it on the front of my bike, not attach it to the tank or anywhere where it will get in the way on me tucking under the screen on track. Do those sticky pads work well enough to mount the thing on my mudguard. There should be clearance on my bike. Anyone dabbled in this stuff for front mounting options? Thx Cool

I just stuck a GoPro pad on the front of my litre bike. It's stuck like shite to a blanket. No way it's going to 'fall' off.

There are a few issues to contend with:

Aim the feckin thing properly BEFORE you stick it on. Embarassed
Support the bike vertically (I will use a spirit level when I fix mine).
Leave the foil on the sticky.
Switch the camera on.
Mount the camera and look at the screen whilst viewing a level edge/horizon/spirit level.
Use something to mark the position of the sticky. A white paint pen/correction pen. Mark the sticky at the four corners. Put a corresponding mark on the bike exactly next to the marks on the sticky.
The VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive works much better if it and the surface are warm. Body temp (37.5ºC)
It also has to be very clean. Use some brake cleaner to remove any grease/polish etc.

Using the white marks as a the guides stick the sticky on. It is better if the camera isn't mounted at this stage until the VHB has 'set'.

I found that I get a lot of engine noise through the mount. This is a problem for anything mounted to an engine.
Road bumps etc. cause shake too.
I found a resilient mount on amazon for drones. I can modificate another VHB mount to use one of these to help isolate the camera.
On the mudguard you will probably get too much shake due to wind causing flapping. It is a very low perspective too.

It is also unsprung so it'll rattle the arse off the camera. I bet there's nowhere near as much clearance between the top fairing and the front mudguard as you think there is under heavy braking.

Why not just mount it low down on the front screen like a lot of people do? It's not going to get in your way there.
