Sounds like the clamper was just a wanker wanting to get in the paper...

Sounds like that to me too.

Where do they want the police to park when following up reports then - half a mile down the road in the multi story?

Perhaps they should also be allowed to park in Ambulance areas when visiting hospitals?

Or in a Bus stop when getting their fish and chips from the place
opposite?

Personally I think the Police should have to follow the rules the rest of us do unless they are responding to an emergency call.
Otherwise where do you draw the lines, what tasks can police ignore the rules for, what rules can they ignore? What other public workers should also be allowed to ignore rules as well?

Sounds perfectly fair enough, as otherwise they'll just pick and choose what rules they obey. Police cars do take the piss a bit, went to Tescos next to work once to get a sandwich and parked outside the door in the road on double yellows was a police car with it's blue lights on, and when I went inside there were two officers were obviously attending an emergeny in the sandwich bit getting their lunches!!!

Many years ago we used to do vehicle removals for the fire officer at a local hospital (if they were blocking fire escapes, hatchings etc), and actually towed away an unmarked police car.

The sargeant said to us, "didn`t you see the police manual on the back window?"

Um, no!

Needless to say, no moeny was charged!! Laughing
