Anyone used or using a Fog City visor insert?

I'm thinking of getting one for the (hate to say it) winter months.

I'm considering the Hyperoptics version but heard that they aren't brilliant in the dark.

Not being funny but I'm not asking for alternative suggestions, just a good or bad response. I don't want to turn this into an "I've got one of these . . . . "

Was wondering about this myself , but ive only ever seen them with a uniform shape , as my helmet has a similar design to the simpson bandit , im not sure if they would work.

I bought one a couple of years ago and I was well chuffed with its performance. I believe they do a couple of different shapes for different visors, so make sure you get the right one for your lid.

The downside: For some unknown reason it stopped being effective after a year and began steaming up. I thought about it and then decided £14 for a year's mist free riding isn't that bad so bought another one.

Yeah, i got mine about a year ago and they are absolutly brilliant, completly fog-free all the time. I can even take the visor off my shoei and wash it with hot soapy water and it doesn't effect the fog city insert at all.

As i said, i got it about a year ago and its just starting to stop working a tiny bit so might think about replacing it in a few weeks but as skida said £14 for a year of no huffed up visor is a bargain if you ask me!

I had one in a lid once, but ended up using a Foggy ResproGuard because my glasses always steamed up before the visor, and no amount of treating the lenses helped. I found the Fog City looked pretty tatty eventually though, like a dirty visor.

The Fog City's probably OK if you don't wear glasses, or you could get a (helmet with a) visor that's anti-fog.

I've got one of the Fog City inserts that changed colour with light levels.
I've had it on about 18months, never had a problem with steaming up, and its saved me from being blinded loads of times.
Doesnt seam to go as dark as it used to, but it's had a good life. Its just starting to come unstuck in some places but i'm sure it will last another winter till i get a new lid.

I've had 2 Fog City inserts that changed colour with light levels. They both came 'unstuck', one time I left it near a drier (so my fault). The other time it came out of it's own free will.
They work well IMO, but you do get some light reflection from them at night, although it's not enough to really bother me.

As long as you fit it to a very clean or better yet new visor then they are great. Used one through the last 4 or 5 winters and been most impressed. Well worth the money.

Thanks all. Going to get one of the hyperoptics inserts on the way home. Should be good for those wintery days when it's lashed it down and the sun reflects off the surface. Cool

I've never used a Fog City insert as I use Holts Anti Mist and Water Repellent spray For Visors and Screens and it only cost me £1 from tesco (was on sale you see) It works well and stops my visor and glasses from steaming up.
And theres nothing to come unstuck or blow off etc, I just re-apply it every week or when ever I clean my visor/helmet.

I'm using one on my clear visor, excellent piece of kit.

However I did find that they made glare somewhat worse.

In the local bike shop their sold for specific makes of helmets e.g Shoei, Arai etc... so I don't think their as uniform as they look

I had forgotten about that. If you have one fitted be very carefull to only clean it with a soft damp cloth, because they are made out of a material that can scratch quite easily causing star patterns at night.

I use a Fog City insert all through the winter, training CBT pupils at 30mph max through town streets means i dont get enough speed up to demist the visor normally. But i can safely say i've never had any problems with a Fog City insert! Thumbs Up Smile

Bought a Hyperoptics insert last night and fitted it to my clear visor.

Not had chance to try it yet though, other than doing some heavy breathing on it in the house. Shocked Laughing

Not on the bike today, Friday = Pub at lunch = Beer, no point in pubs otherwise = No bike.
