Hi all,
I've recently purchased a derbi senda and i was wondering if i could just derstrict the exhaust or whether i have to do it all and if so is it possible to do it myself or how much will it cost me?

Thanks.

The best way to derestrict it is to wait until you are 17 and get a 125. Thumbs Up

Not sure of the costs involved but potentially you'll need to pay for:
1) Driving other than in accordance with your licence.
2) Driving whilst uninsured.
3) Failing to inform the DVLA that you've converted the vehicle from a moped to a motorcycle.

Dead easy to get caught, unmarked police car follows you for about 500 metres at 30mph and they've got you.

Get a conviction and you have to declare it on any future insurance applications for at least five years. The tiny number of insurers who'll even consider you will charge thousands to cover you for anything with an engine. Fancy forking out £10,000 or more for your first car insurance in a few years time?

Keep quiet about it and you're looking at fraud, don't even think about it.

this ^

Its rare to see police do anything where i live, but i saw one with a pack of go-pedders pulled at the side of the road (hilltop/beaulieu) with a recovery lorry setting up on Friday*

*may have nothing to do with de-restriction, I dont know the law/seizure procedures...but why risk it?

just wait until you're 17.

Here we go again. Whenever there's a post about de-restricting a moped the righteous brothers have to have a go.
The op didn't say they were 16 so may be entitled to modify it legally, and who owns or rides a motorcycle without ever breaking the law.
No one ever speeds, wheelies, races or does anything else wrong.
Who hasn't had a smaller than legal no plate or a non original exhaust.
Who tells their insurance company about every mod they ever do to their bike.
Come on lads....... these are the people who will be the future bikers. If you don't have constructive advice, scroll on to another post.

Ok.

Derestricting a 50cc is pretty pointless. The money it costs for the gains is better spent saving up for a 125, which will piss all over the unrestricted 50cc bike. Not to mention that it will more than likely be stolen. A sooped up 50cc is like porn to a 16 year old feef.

Boring cunts Laughing

Ignore them. I'm sure they've been equally spastic on the road. If not then they deserve a car.

What's wrong with explaining that biking is controlled by laws and that the consequences of ignoring them can be serious?

If he's over sixteen then why would he want a moped? And he's not entitled to 'modify' it regardless, it still counts as a re-classification to a motorcycle.
mospeed wrote:

I suspect most riders actually do stay within the law.
mospeed wrote:

Most bikers I suspect.
mospeed wrote:

There's a difference between a minor mod and something that will render insurance void, OP needs to understand this.

I suspect most teens whose first and only question is about how to make a moped go faster will be straight into a car as soon as they can and never look back.

It'll definitely have an exhaust restriction, that may or may not be easy to remove. Chances are there's a cat in there too.

There might be some intake restriction before the carb (airbox lid) or a plate to remove in the manifold maybe? There will almost certainly be some re-jetting needed and possibly a different spark plug.

Look up Moped tuning sites, forums and Derbi owners websites etc. I bet you'll have the answers and parts list required in a few mins.

Use good fully synthetic oil and warm the motor properly before ragging it. It will then last and be reliable with proper care.

With regard to oil,
buy online and in bulk 5 liters at a time, get very high spec fully synth for the same you'd pay for mineral skank in the garages/motorbike shops Very Happy

4 years of abusing an NSR and piston was happy as larry Very Happy

As said, just be sure to warm her before wringing her neck Wink

It’s meant to have one but the rev limiter seems early got a yasuni race exhaust and been upjetted and 14t front sprocket but still struggles to get 45-50 friend has rs50 with smaller rear sprocket and deresticted exhaust and cdi and it revs to 12000rpm and goes 55-60

The senda comes with 8,500rpm limiter standard

Is that what they've told you or have you been riding alongside each other and they fuck off into the distance?
